Building resilience

Through collaboration, transparency, and knowledge sharing, the expertise of the re/insurance modelling community can be applied to hazard quantification and risk mitigation, protecting populations and economies at significant risk from current and future climate impacts.

JBA is proud to be part of this global effort. Our international development and humanitarian activities are led by JBA Global Resilience. This specialist company coordinates the skills and tools from across the JBA family of businesses and trusted partners, ensuring integration of expertise to support resilience-building projects in vulnerable regions worldwide.

As part of this collaborative approach, we work with partners such as the Insurance Development Forum and the World Bank to provide appropriate, effective, and sustainable solutions. Our expertise in all forms of flooding and associated hazards, coupled with our ability to help clients understand and interpret risk metrics, informs planning and drives resilience for communities facing the most significant challenges.

How we can help

  • Country-level risk analytics

Responsive analysis of flood risk for any country in the world based on openly available exposure data or client selected data. Informs project planning and further development in analysis of risk to people, economic activity and infrastructure.

  • Capacity building

Support and intelligence for global and local organisations and stakeholders to understand their risk landscape and the insight that catastrophe modelling and risk analysis tools can provide to inform their future plans. Flexibility to incorporate local data into existing models and tools to refine the estimation of risk.

  • Disaster risk finance

Our work supports the development of financial solutions that help governments and humanitarian agencies recover from disasters. We use advanced analytics and extensive knowledge of the insurance industry to inform financing systems that offer rapid payouts based on predefined triggers. This enables funds to be available promptly to support recovery efforts.

  • Flood hazard data and maps

Consistent, global flood maps at 30m resolution, with additional local or regional analysis in relation to client-specific and relevant exposures.
