JBA’s global flood maps provide high-resolution flood mapping for every country in the word, delivering flood extents and depths for multiple return periods, across river (fluvial), surface (pluvial) water and coastal flooding. Built using a consistent, proven methodology applied worldwide, they offer a comprehensive and comparable view of flood hazard, enabling reliable assessment of flood risk across regions, countries and portfolios.
Our flood maps are continually improved through advances in science, new data, research and innovation. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures our flood maps remain among the most detailed and up-to-date commercial flood maps available.
Built using the highest quality elevation data, our flood maps are available at 30m for every country in the world and 5m resolution for the UK, Ireland, USA, continental Europe and major populated regions in Australia, where the higher resolution provides a more detailed representation of flood risk in urban areas and areas susceptible to surface water flooding.
Advanced hydraulic modelling
JBA flood maps are built using JFlow, JBA's proprietary 2D hydraulic modelling software, underpinned by decades of peer-reviewed flood science. By simulating how water moves across the landscape, JFlow provides a detailed representation of fluvial, pluvial and coastal flood hazard. Our flood maps are continually enhanced through a regular programme of updates, incorporating the latest data and advances in flood science to ensure they remain among the most detailed and up-to-date commercial flood maps available.

Spotlight – UK Flood Map
JBA pioneered high-resolution flood mapping in the UK and continues to set the benchmark for commercial flood mapping. Our UK flood map offers the highest level of detail available commercially, with 5-metre resolution, annual updates and extensive flood defence information to provide a realistic representation of flood hazard. They map six flood types: river, surface water, coastal, groundwater, dam break and canal failure, providing a comprehensive view of flood hazard from multiple sources.
Built using JFlow, JBA's proprietary hydraulic modelling software, they benefit from decades of scientific development and continuous refinement. Flow paths are manually refined where required, while client feedback and observations from real flood events help shape ongoing improvements.
The maps form the foundation of JBA's flood scores, catastrophe models and wider flood risk analytics, supporting insurers, lenders, property professionals and other organisations in making better-informed decisions.
