We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Data to Decisions event in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

 

This exciting 2-day course offers clients a unique opportunity to get a detailed understanding of the inputs, processes and applications behind JBA Risk Management’s flood products. Whether you’re new to our tools or a long-time user, this hands-on, expert-led session is a chance to see behind the scenes, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into how we develop our flood data and models – along with how they fit into the wider world of risk. Workshop at JBA head office, Skipton

You’ll join our team of flood scientists at our head office in Skipton, North Yorkshire for a day long programme of presentations and interactive sessions. These will cover:

  • How our flood products are made
  • The data inputs that drive our products
  • How we approach uncertainty, limitations and validation

Field trip to Kendal, Cumbria

Ten years on from Storm Desmond, we’ll take you on a guided tour of Kendal. This session helps contextualise our flood risk maps by exploring:

  • The real impacts of flooding in the town
  • How these impacts are captured in a flood hazard map
  • The new flood defences being built and their implications for future risk

Dates and format

To meet high demand, we’re running the event twice:

  • 13–14 October 2026
  • 14–15 October 2026

Both date options follow the same structure and include one day at our offices and one day in the field.

Cost and what’s included

Course fee: £350 + VAT
This helps cover the cost of delivering the high-quality course and includes:

  • A full day’s workshop with JBA’s technical experts
  • Reference materials
  • Coach transport to and from Kendal
  • Lunch and refreshments on both days
  • A relaxed evening meal on the first night at the Tempest Arms, offering a great opportunity to connect with fellow attendees and JBA
