The majority of flood exposure goes unwritten in the US because insurers think it’s too risky: as few as 15 percent of US homeowners are insured against flood, exposing a latent opportunity for insurers in the US flood insurance market.

Although a national-scale flood map has existed for many decades, it is now largely outdated and fails to fully represent today’s risk. Relying solely on this existing data may result in over or under-representation of flood risk and high levels of insured loss.

JBA’s new 5m US Flood Map deepens your understanding of flood through:

  • Highest resolution mapping in the market - vital for urban areas with high densities of insured assets
  • Modelling the three main flood types and the complex interplay between each, which is key for hurricane-prone areas where multiple flood types may occur simultaneously (not commonly represented in market data)
  • Bespoke, science-led methodologies
  • Latest terrain and defense data to represent today’s risk

The data can help you to write flood more insightfully, profitably and confidently.
