Applications are now open for the JBA Risk Management Graduate Scheme!
Are you a motivated and innovative graduate with an interest in flood science and risk management? Are you seeking a structured framework to support your professional development, whilst working on pioneering flood and climate science projects at a global scale? If so, we want to hear from you!
JBA Risk Management offers graduate opportunities across our flood mapping, catastrophe modelling, software development and client services teams. You’ll work with some of the world’s largest organisations, across a range of sectors, to help them understand and manage their flood risk.
My biggest role was co-Project Manager for the US Defended Areas, where I created the defended layers from the flood output, edited the data, quality checked it and made it a client deliverable. It's really great to be given responsibility like this as a graduate.
The JBA graduate scheme is dedicated to helping you further your professional development. You’ll follow a competency-based learning and development framework, allowing you to build essential skills such as:
You’ll also develop advanced technical knowledge and skills, tailored to your strengths.
A structured training programme, access to experienced professionals, and rotation around different teams ensures breadth and depth of skills and knowledge. The scheme typically lasts two years and results in a contract of permanent employment in a role suited to your strengths and interests, subject to all competencies being met.
We thrive on new ideas and innovation and believe that learning and development is key to that. We’re focused on helping you develop your skills and will offer you a generous annual training budget. We also support industry qualifications, including chartered membership of professional associations.
We’re looking for a motivated individual in their early career who enjoys teamwork, collaboration and innovation and has a commitment to delivering value to clients. The ideal candidate will be a bright graduate with a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills.
The following are essential attributes for the role:
Additionally, you may also have some experience in the following areas, although training will be provided as required:
We were the first to create national-scale flood maps for Continental Europe at 5m resolution and it was really rewarding to work towards an industry first. The project was spread over a year and had lots of different data and teams involved, so it was interesting to see it all come together using the different technical specialisms throughout JBA.
