Data Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced individual to join our team. Working across our product development and consultancy services, you’ll drive our input data strategy and coordinate the management and implementation of data across the business.

Our flood maps, catastrophe models and data are used by some of the world’s leading organisations. We’re experts in translating complex, scientific data into useful information, using sophisticated hydraulic approaches and models to provide cutting-edge flood risk intelligence.

The role

  • Embedding data as an asset within our organisation and removing silos to build a single data-driven culture
  • Initiating data acquisition to support product development
  • Ensuring appropriate data governance and compliance with contractual terms and conditions
  • Developing and maintaining data partnerships to deliver our strategic ambitions, whilst obtaining measurable return on investment
  • Mitigating supplier-related risks to our product development and consultancy work

About you

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the following essential attributes:

  • Proven experience at a senior level, ideally within strategic product development and implementation planning
  • Demonstrable experience of full life cycle management of medium- / large-scale projects, ideally with a background in Agile working practices
  • Able to apply an agile mindset and a principle of continuous improvement in the way you work
  • Technical awareness of data management architecture and how this supports data governance
  • Understanding of contracts and ability to negotiate terms with data providers
  • Proven knowledge of change management practices relating to data usage
  • Creative problem-solver with an ambitious attitude
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

The role will be based in the UK, preferably at our Broughton Hall office near Skipton (North Yorkshire). The office is located on the Broughton Hall estate and is surrounded by 3000 acres of parkland, farmland, woodland and moors. This unique work setting sits on the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. However, location may be negotiable for the right candidate.
