The catastrophe modelling group at JBA currently comprises two teams, one focused on business development and client support, the other on long-term cat model development. We seek to form a third team within the group, whose aim will be to focus on work requiring a few days or weeks of effort. The role will involve working alongside team leaders of the existing teams and leading small-scale project work that arises on a timeframe of a few hours to a few weeks. The work is expected to include catastrophe model portfolio analysis, post-event reporting and analysis and provision of analytical services against JBA’s hazard maps and models.
The role will suit an individual who is a capable team leader and has experience within re/insurance industry. You will be a self-motivated person comfortable working as part of a team or independently and capable of innovative thinking in a challenging business environment. You will have excellent organisation, project management and collaborative skills and have a sound technical understanding of cat models and familiarity with the services commonly provided by modelling companies to re/insurance clients. Excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both colleagues and clients is required.
The job will be based in the UK preferably in our Skipton (North Yorkshire) office.
