Jane Toothill discusses in this 25 minute video, how our flood maps performed during the winter 2015 storms, Desmond and Eva. Using Kendal as an example, and drawing on her own personal investigations, she demonstrates how even the best of flood maps can have their limitations. 

 

Climate change impacts on flood risk

In this twenty minute video, Professor Rob Lamb of the JBA Trust explains how recent research is demonstrating a plausible correlation between increased flood risk and anthropogenic climate change. The collaborative study was first published in Nature Climate Change and a summary overview is presented on the JBA Trust website. 

Animation of the Chao Praya flooding in Thailand 2011

Following the Thailand floods in 2011, we created a national-scale river flood map and a catastrophe model of Thailand within 6 months of the event. The 22-second animation shows how the flood waters of the Chao Praya flowed, over a 90 day period.
