Concurrent Coastal and Inland Flooding Risk Cases

We were tasked by the Environment Agency with providing a summary of the current evidence around the broad national risk of concurrent inland and coastal flooding.

Along with contributions from Charles Pilling of the Flood Forecasting centre, we were able to take on the complex task of analysing the joint probability of flooding from the sea and inland. The varied geographical patterns and duration of real flood events were also taken into account and, using our advances in data collection, statistical science and integrated flood risk research, we were able to produce a clear, professional report.
