We are pleased to announce the release of our latest Continental Europe flood mapping, updated to 5m resolution.
The maps are the highest resolution available for all nine countries* at national scale and cover river (fluvial) and surface water (pluvial) flooding.
With flooding projected to increase in the future under a changing climate, and a proportional increase in surface water flooding in particular, it’s vital for re/insurers to have access to the latest, science-led data.
The Europe mapping is created using the same market-leading methodologies for each country, enabling consistent flood risk assessment at property-level within and across country borders. The maps separately address river and surface water flooding, allowing re/insurers to gain a greater insight into the potential impacts of each flood type on exposure and potential claims costs.
In addition, the mapping is complemented by river flood defence data delineating areas protected by flood defences, allowing clients to assess flood risk against their own risk preferences.
Using the maps, re/insurers can perform comprehensive risk assessments, enabling improved underwriting and accumulation management decisions.
