Come and visit

Three good reasons to come and visit: Yorkshire pudding! Yorkshire tea! Yorkshire ale!

——

JBA Risk Management currently resides in Stable Courtyard on the beautiful Broughton Hall Estate in North Yorkshire.  Our offices include rooms above the old stables and the old laundry, complete with the original eighteenth century drying racks.  There are lots of good reasons to visit us - here are just a few:

  • Working with us is great fun, and meeting face to face is even better.
  • Yorkshire pudding! Yorkshire tea! Yorkshire ale!
  • According to science* Skipton is officially the best place to live. Apologies, other 100 shortlisted places, but the top spot was awarded to us.

We appreciate the countryside can be a little difficult to find your way around, so we hope the information below will help you to find us easily.

To Get to JBA Risk Management

By car

From Skipton take the A59 towards Clitheroe/Burnley.  After about 2 miles you will pass The Bull Inn on your left. After another 100m take the filter lane off to the left (shown as Old Lane on some maps but there is no road sign to help you)! The road crosses over a bridge and immediately ahead of you are the main iron gates leading to the Hall itself. Go through the gates and along the drive. At this point you will see the view shown in the image below. On your left is Broughton Hall (the house) while straight ahead of you is an archway underneath a round window. Continue straight on under the archway into Stable Courtyard. You can park here or in any of the other car parks on the estate if this one is full. The schematic below the image shows how to find us, after passing under the archway and looking back towards it. On entering either of the offices, you will need to go up the stairs to the first floor.
  • From Clitheroe (A59) or Burnley (A56) you will come to a roundabout where the A59 and A56 meet. Take the Skipton exit. Soon you will pass a row of terraced cottages on your left called Sulphur Wells. Continue on for about 200m and then turn right into Old Lane. The road crosses over a bridge and immediately ahead of you are the main iron gates leading to the Hall itself. Go through the gates and along the drive. At this point you will see the view shown in the image below. On your left is Broughton Hall (the house) while straight ahead of you is an archway underneath a blue clock. Continue straight on under the archway into Stable Courtyard. You can park here or in any of the other car parks on the estate if this one is full. The schematic below the image shows how to find us, after passing under the archway and looking back towards it. On entering either of the offices, you will need to go up the stairs to the first floor.

By train

Our nearest station is Skipton. There is a good rail service from most places to Leeds and there are regular trains between Leeds and Skipton with a journey time of 40 minutes. For timetables see www.nationalrail.co.uk. Please call us in advance if you would like someone to meet you at the station. We will always try to help out in this way but if for some reason, we are unable to find a driver, there are plenty of taxis outside the station. Local taxi firms (e.g. Station Taxis t: 01756 796666) will charge around £10 from Skipton station to our offices on the Broughton Hall estate.

By air

The nearest airport is Leeds/Bradford. UK connections are available from Aberdeen (Eastern), Glasgow and Edinburgh (Bmi), Belfast (Flybe and Jet2), London (Heathrow), Exeter (Flybe) and Southampton (Flybe and Eastern). There are also direct flights from Dublin (Ryanair), Brussels (KLM), Paris (Bmi, Jet2) and Amsterdam (Jet2). A taxi from the airport will take 50 minutes and cost in the region of £30.

Disabled Access/Facilities

Owing to the nature of these rented properties, there are no toilet facilities for the disabled or lifts. If you are a wheel chair user it is best to call the office before your visit so that we can arrange to accommodate you comfortably.

Bicycles

If you are cycling there is a bicycle store and a shower facility on site.

Accommodation

There is a wide range of accommodation in the Skipton area. If arriving by train the Herriot's Hotel is immediately opposite the station. If arriving by car there is a Travelodge 2 miles away, a Premier Inn 3 miles away or The Tempest Arms (a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk) from the office, along country lanes. We usually recommend the Tempest Arms if you can get a room there.
