Services | Analysis
JBA’s sophisticated and innovative analysis services give you the tools to understand your exposure to natural catastrophes, so you will be equipped to make well-informed risk management decisions. These portfolio analyses and risk assessments are typically undertaken using JBA’s own data and software. Operating on a consultancy basis, we can also work with you to develop other products or help you to use your existing data more effectively.
Portfolio analysis
JBA’s catastrophe modelling software, JCALF, combines detailed hazard mapping, stochastic event set, modelling of the built environment and vulnerability functions. With the capability to import and carry out probabilistic analyses of a portfolio either in-house at JBA or licensed to you, JCALF offers a range of reporting options:
- Per-occurrence and annual aggregate loss
- Ground up and insured loss
- Event by event and loss exceedance curve output
Risk assessments
Our risk assessment analyses range in detail from map data checks for an entire portfolio through to fully comprehensive risk assessments for a single risk location.
Scenario analysis
Our JCALF portfolio analysis software enables us to carry out analysis of historic and postulated scenario events. Typical examples might include a “what if” analysis of Hurricane Andrew against an insurance portfolio, analysis of a Lloyd’s Realistic Disaster Scenario or identification and subsequent analysis of the “worst case” event to affect a portfolio. The required hazard maps can be developed on a bespoke basis or existing maps in our standard set used. Popular examples include
- Hurricane Andrew sea surge footprint analysis
- UK flood events from Easter 1998, Autumn 2000 and Summer 2007
- Mumbai 2005 and Surat 2006 floods
